CCCOE Contract Ratified!

Published on: December 15, 2017

Dear Members of the Contra Costa County Office of Education:

I’m thrilled to announce that Local #1/AFSCME, CCCOE members ratified our Tentative Agreement with the Office of Education on December 12, 2017.  98% (percent) of voters voted YES for binding arbitration on grievances, an expansion of bereavement leave entitlements and clear contract language articulating the application of “progressive” discipline steps.

Our entire General Classified and Instructional Assistant Units deserve credit for our gaining working condition improvements in this last round of negotiations, which followed our ratification of economic terms from earlier this year (economic terms from earlier this year: 3% cola retro to July 2016, increased life insurance benefit, and Bachelor’s Degree stipend.) Our successful ratification vote of December 12, 2017 couldn’t have happened without contributions from our members, who channeled ideas into proposals and proposals into reality. We are strong as one, which means we can continue to improve the livelihood of every member in every workplace.

Special thanks to our bargaining team:  Neanna Mahrooq, Jeannine Yore, Kim Owens, Marilyn Nappo, Christina Small and Brenda Kozak!

In Solidarity,

Theresa Moodie-Banks
